About the Architect Builder
A family practice with a national hand.
Architect, builder, and the person who still draws the house.
Tony has been a licensed contractor since 1988 and a licensed architect since 1992. He holds an NC State Architectural Degree and is an accredited Master Builder through the North Carolina Home Builders Association — one of only a handful in the state. He is also a Certified Green Professional.
Before the residential studio, he founded an architecture and engineering firm that grew to 55 people over 22 years. The firm designed restaurants, retail, and commercial work for nationally branded companies in 50 states. That commercial discipline still shows in kitchens, assemblies, and the way a budget is held.
The practice is family-owned. Tony and his wife Susan run it together, with a combined 50 years in the building industry. Susan leads marketing and sales. The office is at 110 Woodlawn Dr in Clarksville, Virginia. Tony completes 18 hours of continuing education each year for architecture and 8 hours for contracting, bringing new materials and methods back to clients.

Project Manager
Ean Hirst
Ean is the project manager. Born and raised in North Carolina, he has worked in construction and design since high school — from small repairs to million-dollar homes. His father, Tony, put a hammer in his hand early. After East Carolina University’s Construction Management program, Ean spent several years with his company Hirst Construction in Raleigh, NC primarily doing bathroom remodeling. His work has been featured in HGTV magazine.
He also worked in window and door fabrication in Greenville, North Carolina, and in logistics in New York City. That mix of field work, management, and running his own jobs is what he brings to this office: schedules, subcontractors, and the details that keep a house or a commercial project on track.
